Thorne Ecological Institute
Founded in 1954 by Dr. Oakleigh Thorne II, Thorne Ecological Institute builds Earth stewardship by "connecting kids to nature" through hands-on environmental education.
Thorne Natural Science School (TNSS) offers outdoor education courses in Boulder and Littleton for young people ages 6-15. For more than fifty years it has been steeped in a tradition of celebrating nature by giving children the opportunity to explore and discover the natural world along the ecosytems of the Colorado Front Range.
Through its in-school prgram, Project BEAR (Building Environmental Awareness and Respect), environmental educators visit school classrooms and/or take them on engaging field trips. Project BEAR incorporates natural science with hands-on activities to create fun, educational experiences that meet the needs of specific science, math, and geography curriculum.

The DaVinci Institute
Launched in 1997 as a non-profit futurist think tank, the Institute has emerged as a center of visionary thought, attracting both a national and international following of idea junkies and business leaders alike.
Unlike Leonardo DaVinci, the Institute set its sights on producing tangible results as opposed to just conceptual thinking. The founders decided that they didn’t just want to talk about the future - they wanted to help unlock the future, one idea, one invention, one business at a time. With this directive, the Institute began educating aspiring inventors and entrepreneurs with the critical skills necessary to make their projects viable.
During the past seven years the Institute has been very prolific in its accomplishments, writing and publishing countless papers and producing over 100 events across the country. These events have ranged from a hands-on interactive Inventor Boot Camp for Kids to the international, Forbes Magazine sponsored, Future of Money Summit. The DaVinci Institute is now planning the Museum of Future Inventions.

The Cunningham Foundation
Project Mercy was started in 1977 to provide emergency relief and relocation assistance to Ethiopian refugees during Communist takeover. In 1993, the focus was expanded to include community development and self-help programs, with the conviction that they reduce the need for crises-driven aid. Project Mercy expanded its scope in reaction to an urgent appeal from the elders of Yetebon, an impoverished farming community in central Ethiopia. The mission of the Yetebon Project is to improve living standards and life-opportunities in rural areas by creating an integrated developmental environment. Programs include:
• Health center providing complete care for 45,000 people • Development and maintenance of a clean water supply • Improvement of fresh vegetable farming techniques • Introduction of more beneficial dairy cattle breeds • Construction and maintenance of roads to improve economic activity • Vocational and traditional Skill Training Center • The Medhane-Alem School
